The Nigerian Navy (NN), a vital arm of the Nigerian Armed Forces, is inviting applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for the Batch 38 Recruitment Exercise into the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS).
The Nigerian Navy remains one of Africa’s largest naval forces, with thousands of officers, ratings, and coast guard personnel committed to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.

Available Categories

Applications are open for enlistment into the following specializations:

A. Engineering Artificers

  • A1 – Marine Engineer Artificer (MEA):
    Minimum of 5 credits (including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry). An OND in Marine or Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage.

  • A2 – Weapon Electrical Artificer (WEA):
    5 credits including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. OND in Electrical or Electronics Engineering is an advantage.

  • A3 – Aircraft Engineering Artificer (Airframe Engine):
    Diploma in Airframe & Engine (ICAO recognized) plus 5 credits in English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.

  • A4 – Aircraft Engineering Artificer (Avionics & Aircraft Electrics):
    Diploma in Aircraft Electrics/Avionics (ICAO recognized) plus 5 credits in English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.

  • A5 – Shipwright Artificer (SHIPA):
    5 credits (English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry). OND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Welding Engineering is an advantage.

B. Mechanics & Technicians

  • B1 – Marine Engineer Mechanic (MEM)

  • B2 – Weapon Electrical Mechanic (WEM)

  • B3 – Automobile Mechanic (AM)
    → Each requires 5 credits including English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. City & Guilds or Trade Test II accepted.

  • B4 – Welding:
    Minimum of 4 passes including a credit in English Language plus a relevant Trade Certificate.

C. Communications & Information Technology

  • C1 – Communications:
    5 credits (English, Maths, Physics).

  • C2 – Information Technology:
    OND (Lower Credit) in Computer Science or related fields plus 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics).
    Certifications in networking, programming, web development, or CAD are an advantage.

D. Seamen and Specialists

  • D1 – Seaman: 5 credits including English and Maths.

  • D2 – Survey Recorders: OND in Land Survey, GIS, or Cartography plus 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics/Geography).

  • D3 – Sportsmen/Women: SSCE and evidence of national or international sports participation.

  • D4 – Physical Training Instructors: SSCE and proof of sports ability or YSFON participation.

  • D5 – Chaplain Assistants: SSCE with CRK and two years’ experience in church activities (with recommendation).

  • D6 – Imam Assistants: SSCE with Arabic and IRK plus two years’ mosque work (with recommendation).

  • D7 – Firemen: SSCE; firefighting certification is an advantage.

  • D8 – Painting: Minimum of 4 passes including a credit in English plus a trade certificate.

E. Administrative & Technical

  • E1 – Writers: 5 credits including English, Maths, Accounting/Economics, and Computer Studies. OND/NCE is a plus.

  • E2 – Store Assistants: 5 credits including English, Maths, and Economics. Computer skills are an advantage.

  • E3 – Caterers: 5 credits including English and Food & Nutrition/Home Management. Experience preferred.

  • E4 – Ordnance: 5 credits including English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry.

  • E5 – Project Technicians: OND in Building, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying plus 5 credits.

  • E6–E11 (Tailoring, Carpentry, Plumbing, Masonry, Electrical, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning):
    Minimum of 4 passes including a credit in English plus a trade certificate or practical experience.

F. Medical Personnel

  • F1 – Medical Assistants: 5 credits (English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics). Basic First Aid or CPR certification is beneficial.

  • F2 – Health Technicians: OND or professional certification in Biomedical, Dental, Environmental Health, Radiography, Pharmacy, or Physiotherapy plus 5 credits in core science subjects.

G. Bandsmen

5 credits including English Language. Applicants must be skilled in playing at least one musical instrument.

H. Drivers / Mechanics

5 credits including English Language, plus a valid driver’s license, mechanic certificate, and experience letter. FRSC recommendation is an added advantage.

J. Journalists

OND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Graphics, or Cinematography plus 5 credits (including English and Mathematics).

K. Nurses

Registered Nurse (RN) or dual qualification (RM, A&E, ENT, Psychiatric, or Pediatric) plus 5 credits (English, Maths, Biology, Physics, Chemistry).

N. Education

NCE in Arts, Science, or Technical Education plus 5 credits including English and Mathematics. TRCN certification is an added advantage.

General Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth (dual citizenship is not allowed).

  2. Age Limits:

    • For categories A5, B1–B3, C1, D1, D4, D7, E1–E4, F1, and G: 18–22 years by 31 December 2025.

    • For OND/NCE or other diploma-based categories (A1–A4, B4, C2, D2, D3, D5–D8, E5–E11, F2, H, J, K, N): 18–26 years by 31 December 2025.

  3. Applicants must not be married, pregnant, or nursing.

  4. Must have no criminal record or court conviction.

  5. Applicants with physical, visual, or hearing impairments, or medical conditions such as stammering or deformities, should not apply. Tattoos are not permitted.

  6. Minimum height: 1.68m for males, 1.65m for females.

  7. Acceptable educational qualifications include: WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, OND, City & Guilds, or equivalent.

  8. Primary School Leaving Certificate must be presented during the interview.

  9. Applicants must provide their National Identification Number (NIN).

  10. Applicants with HND or higher degrees are not eligible.

  11. All declared certificates must be genuine and verifiable.

  12. Applicants must complete and print:

    • Declaration Form

    • Parent/Guardian Consent Form

    • LGA Certification Form

    • Police Certification Form

    • Guarantor’s Form

  13. Required documents at screening include:

    • Birth Certificate or Age Declaration (photocopy)

    • Educational credentials and First School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial

    • LGA Identification Form (signed by Chairman/Secretary or senior security officer)

    • 4 passport photographs (stamped and signed)

    • Result scratch cards (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB)

  14. Applicants must complete the online form on the recruitment portal.

  15. Applicants must not belong to any secret or unlawful organization.

  16. Forgery or impersonation will result in disqualification and prosecution.

  17. Recruitment Aptitude Test: 29 November 2025.

  18. Successful candidates will proceed for Basic Military Training and will be enlisted as Ordinary Seamen.
