Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer

Job Summary
The HSE Officer will support the implementation of the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment policies across the factory and other UFL operations. The role involves enforcing HSE compliance among staff, contractors, and visitors; conducting safety inspections, audits, drills, and risk assessments; investigating incidents; and driving HSE training to build a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and update all relevant HSE reports and records.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to regulatory agencies.
- Track and analyze HSE performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
- Drive awareness programs for employees on HSE laws, company policies, hazard monitoring, and safe work practices.
- Monitor treatment parameters, ensuring compliance with permissible environmental discharge standards.
- Report system failures, abnormalities, and maintenance needs to prevent violations.
- Oversee contractor compliance with HSE requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety briefings and risk assessments.
- Perform routine inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
- Coordinate and monitor workplace safety programs aligned with business goals to reduce incidents.
- Organize and execute emergency preparedness drills, including fire safety.
- Act as the key representative during regulatory audits and compliance visits.
- Record observations from inspections and coordinate corrective actions.
- Liaise with waste vendors for timely waste evacuation.
- Promote sustainability initiatives to minimize waste and environmental impact.
- Ensure the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) operates within regulatory and company standards.
- Submit periodic reports on effluent discharge quality and system performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Management, or related field.
- 2–3 years’ experience in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) roles.
- Additional knowledge of Fire Safety Management and Emergency Response is an advantage.
