Job Overview
The FX Dealer plays a key role in market making within the interbank FX market on behalf of the bank and its clients. The primary goal is to grow revenue from trading and market-making activities while staying within Citi and regulatory boundaries.
This role involves active participation in daily market operations and accurate position management, taking into account micro- and macroeconomic conditions, inflation, and interest rates. The FX Dealer will collaborate with the Sales Team to expand client business and apply market intelligence to achieve revenue targets.
The position also entails full compliance with regulatory expectations for FX market makers and involvement in internal audits and regulatory reviews.
Responsibilities
- Take charge of risk management for spot FX, forward, and swap deals across key currencies, with emphasis on USDNGN, XAF, XOF, and CDF
- Respond promptly to inquiries from clients and the sales team throughout the day
- Manage daily trading positions and seek opportunities in the interbank space
- Work collaboratively with other trading and sales desks within Citi to secure and execute client FX transactions
- Support any mark-to-market trading requirements as they arise
- Maintain accurate trading blotters and monitor all open positions
- Provide pricing and quote axes as needed for clients
- Share timely updates on market trends, policy shifts, and relevant data with internal teams and clients
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- A B.Sc./BA Degree is required
- Possessing an MBA is an added advantage
- Professional certifications like CFA will also be a plus
Experience:
- Prior experience in Treasury operations and/or familiarity with FX markets
- At least 8 years of post-graduate work experience
- Expertise in FX trading systems such as Bloomberg
- Strong grasp of market behavior, economic data, and the regulatory landscape
