The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the leading examination body in West Africa responsible for conducting standardized examinations and awarding internationally recognized certificates, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Confidential Secretary V.

Job Summary

The Confidential Secretary V will provide high-level secretarial and administrative support within the Council, ensuring efficient office operations, accurate documentation, and effective communication flow. The role requires strong organizational ability, proficiency in digital office tools, and a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to assigned units or officers
  • Manage correspondence, filing systems, and records in an organized and confidential manner
  • Prepare documents, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office tools
  • Maintain accurate data entry and support web-based administrative systems
  • Coordinate meetings, schedules, and appointments
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day office operations and workflow efficiency
  • Support communication between departments and external stakeholders
  • Carry out other administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

  • National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE)
  • OND in Secretarial Studies, Secretarial Administration, or Office Technology Management from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of five (5) credits in SSCE/WASSCE including English Language and Mathematics (one sitting) or six (6) credits in not more than two sittings

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must not be above 40 years of age at the time of application
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in structured, performance-driven environments
