Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Communications Manager to spearhead our communication strategies. This critical role focuses on elevating the organization’s brand identity, growing audience engagement, and strengthening our presence as a leading voice for African narratives. The ideal candidate will be a skilled storyteller with a solid media network, a strategic outlook, and a passion for African journalism.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic communication plan aligned with the organization’s vision and goals.
  • Supervise the development and upkeep of our social media presence, guaranteeing high interaction and brand awareness.
  • Lead audience engagement campaigns, surveys, and partnerships that drive wider reach and connection.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to support revenue generation and customer retention through digital platforms.
  • Coordinate communications for key events, including product launches, interviews, and panel discussions.
  • Analyze communication metrics and apply data-driven insights to optimize performance.
  • Produce interesting material for websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Establish and preserve a good rapport with influencers, media outlets, and journalists.
  • Act as a brand steward, ensuring consistency and alignment with the organization’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, or a similar field is required.
  • At least five years of full-time work experience in public relations or communications, ideally in the publishing or media sectors.
  • Proficient in tools like Buffer, Later, Canva, Mailchimp, and productivity suites such as Notion and Microsoft Office.
  • Outstanding capacity for both solitary and group work.
  • Extremely well-organized, with excellent multitasking and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated passion for African journalism and a deep understanding of the African media space.
  • Proven success in managing communication campaigns, executing audience surveys, and developing media partnerships.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. (Graphic or video editing skills are a strong advantage.)
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing, social media strategy, newsletter distribution, and performance analytics.

Salary

₦700,000 Monthly (Net)
