Job Description
The Head of Finance & Accounts will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of JC International, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and effective financial strategy. The role requires leading the finance team to uphold financial integrity, manage resources efficiently, and deliver insights that support strategic decision-making and business growth.
Role & Responsibilities
- Supervise the preparation, accuracy, and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with standards.
- Oversee and balance the general ledger, making sure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- For strategic planning, give management performance reports, financial analyses, and projections.
- Monitor financial data, identify trends and variances, and propose improvements.
- Work with department heads to oversee the budgeting process.
- Monitor the implementation of the budget, examine deviations, and suggest remedial measures.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Assure timely remittance and adherence to tax requirements (FIRS, LIRS, Pension, NHF, etc.).
- Create and put into place internal controls to safeguard resources and reduce hazards.
- Ensure prompt issue resolution by supervising and assisting with internal and external audits.
- Guarantee adherence to all financial regulations and company policies.
- Manage cash flow, banking activities, and relationships with financial institutions.
- Keep an eye on working capital to ensure there is enough liquidity for company operations.
- Assess investment opportunities and advise management on financing strategies.
- For accurate reporting, make sure ERP and accounting applications are used effectively.
Requirements
- BSc/HND in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is compulsory.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, including at least 3 years in senior management.
- Strong background in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
