At Moniepoint, data sits at the heart of our decision-making and product innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Lead to design, build, and scale robust data systems that power business intelligence and operational excellence.

This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices in data engineering. You will play a critical role in enabling data-driven strategies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process large datasets
• Analyze complex data using tools such as Python and SQL
• Optimize data platforms for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data solutions
• Develop monitoring systems to ensure data quality, accuracy, and model performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related challenges across systems
• Implement and manage end-to-end data workflows (ingestion, transformation, enrichment)
• Maintain and manage source code repositories using version control tools
• Explore and integrate AI/ML capabilities to enhance cloud data infrastructure
• Mentor and support the growth of junior data engineers

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering (or equivalent demonstrable expertise)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
• Advanced proficiency in SQL
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• Strong passion for continuous learning and emerging technologies

Nice to Have

• Experience with data governance frameworks
• Exposure to machine learning model development and deployment
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform)
