For this role:

They are looking for a seasoned and reliable VP of Finance to lead their financial operations and strategy. This role is crucial to success, requiring a highly analytical, results-oriented individual who can thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment. As VP of Finance, you will oversee budgeting, financial planning, accounting, reporting, treasury, cash management, capital allocation, and investor relations. You will play a key role in supporting the CEO, board, and senior leadership in making strategic decisions that drive the company’s growth and mission.

Your responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • You will provide broad-based support for the CEO and board, defining and developing financial strategy and performance.
  • You will  create and execute a capital raising strategy, including organizing meetings, roadshows, negotiations, and fund document preparations.
  • You will build strong relationships with investors, effectively articulating our investment philosophy and strategy to both potential and existing stakeholders.
  • You will lead the institutional investment process, participating in strategic planning, valuation, and risk management processes.
  • You will assist the CEO and Leadership team with decisions and initiatives related to fundraising, marketing, and investor relations.
  • Financial Operations:
  • You will oversee MAX’s financial operations, including budgeting, financial planning, accounting, reporting, and treasury management.
  • You will monitor, analyze, and optimize financial performance, ensuring the implementation of finance automation.
  • You will manage and advise on special projects such as new product launches, market expansion, mergers and acquisitions, and fundraising.
  • You will develop a roadmap for growing and leading the Finance team, ensuring alignment with MAX’s strategic goals.
  • Brand Building & Partnerships:
  • You will serve as the No. 1 ambassador for MAX to investors and board members.
  • You will enhance the MAX brand by working with senior leadership and external consultants.
  • Performance Management:
  • You will measure and track the performance of the Finance team, monitoring key performance metrics.
  • You will ensure the Finance team’s alignment with industry trends relevant to MAX’s mission.
  • Leadership & Team Building:
  • You will build and lead a high-performing Finance team, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • You will motivate, develop, and inspire your team to achieve remarkable results.
  • You will implement a systematic feedback and performance review system, promoting top performers, coaching core performers, and managing underperformers.

To be considered for this role….

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an Advanced Degree in Business Administration or Finance is a plus.
  • Professional finance qualifications such as CPA, CFA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • 10-15 years of experience in institutional fundraising, with at least 5 years in senior financial roles. Venture capital experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset with motivational and talent management skills.
  • Proven financial modeling skills and a strong understanding of local and international financial markets.
  • A successful track record in capital raising and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global context, with experience in high-impact environments preferred.
  • Passion for customer relationships, with a demonstrated ability to build strong networks with institutional investors.
  • Data-driven decision-making approach, using KPIs and metrics to guide strategy.
  • Ability to understand and adapt to diverse work environments, cultures, and market dynamics across different countries.

Location and Travel:

  • The candidate will be based in Nigeria.
