Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer to join our team in Ikorodu. This position is critical in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment through regular safety audits, employee training, risk assessments, and continuous improvement of our occupational health and safety processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine safety inspections to identify and correct workplace hazards.
• Train employees and executives on occupational health and safety standards and best practices.
• Ensure full compliance with internal EHS policies, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 regulations.
• Oversee contractors’ adherence to company permit-to-work protocols.
• Monitor compliance on project sites to ensure all safety standards are followed.
• Collaborate with internal teams to embed safety procedures into daily operations.
• Maintain communication with external stakeholders including regulatory agencies and safety organizations.
• Develop and implement OHS programs, policies, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and enforce corrective and preventive safety measures.
• Halt unsafe practices or conditions immediately and escalate where necessary.
• Document, investigate, and report workplace incidents and support compensation claims.
• Support emergency planning and coordinate evacuation drills and procedures.
• Develop and submit regular reports detailing safety performance and issues.

 

Requirements

• Relevant academic qualifications in safety, environmental sciences, or related fields.
• Proven experience in health and safety roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of local and international safety regulations.
• Certifications in OHS, HSE, ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 standards are an advantage.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
