Job Summary
The Risk Management Officer will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of risk management principles, regulatory requirements, and banking operations in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Identification and Assessment:
– Identify potential risks affecting the institution’s operations, assets, and reputation.
– Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigation.
Risk Management Framework:
– Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies and procedures.
– Ensure compliance with CBN, NDIC, and other regulatory requirements.
Credit Risk Management:
– Analyze credit applications and provide recommendations.
– Monitor and report on credit portfolio performance.
Operational Risk Management:
– Identify and assess operational risks.
– Implement controls to mitigate operational risk exposure.
Market and Liquidity Risk Management:
– Monitor market trends and liquidity positions.
– Provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
Compliance and Regulatory Risk Management:
– Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
– Identify and report compliance risks.
Risk Reporting and Monitoring:
– Prepare regular risk reports for management and the Board.
– Monitor risk exposure and provide timely updates.
Training and Capacity Building:
– Provide training on risk management principles and procedures.
– Develop capacity-building programs for staff.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
– Professional certification (e.g., CRMA, FRM, PRM, ACCA, ICAN).
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience in risk management, preferably in microfinance or banking in Nigeria.
– Strong knowledge of risk management principles, regulatory requirements (CBN, NDIC), and microfinance banking operations.
– Analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Desirable Qualifications
– Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
– Experience with risk management software and tools.
– Familiarity with local and international regulatory frameworks.
