Overall Purpose of the Job
To apply advanced subsurface analysis skills to improve reservoir understanding, maximize hydrocarbon extraction, and deliver asset value through strategic, data-driven insights.
Principal Responsibilities
- Analyze reservoir fluids and support field-wide evaluations.
- Create simulation models and evaluate material balance.
- Estimate volumes, perform economic assessments, and evaluate reserves.
- Carry out commercial and subsurface studies to support field development.
- Maintain dynamic reservoir models and identify long-term operational constraints.
- Set reservoir engineering design parameters for upcoming projects.
- Prepare and update Field Development Plans (FDPs).
- Create forecasts and assist in depletion strategy planning.
- Monitor production and suggest optimization strategies.
- Identify, assess, and recommend development opportunities.
- Participate in reservoir surveillance and characterization.
- Evaluate drilling and workover operations.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with at least Second-Class Upper (2:1) in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a similar field.
- 8+ years of work experience, preferably in reservoir engineering positions.
- Demonstrated expertise in reserve calculation and project economics.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication abilities.
- Comfortable working in diverse, multidisciplinary teams and under varying field conditions.
- Must hold a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Practical knowledge of artificial lift systems, well performance testing, data interpretation, and development planning.
- Proficient in performance forecasting, material balance analysis, and reservoir modeling.
- Able to use industry technologies like as Eclipse, OFM, Prosper, GAP, and Petrel.
Key Skills
- In-depth knowledge of reservoir engineering with solid skills in subsurface modeling and reservoir simulation.
- Experience in field development planning, pressure analysis, production optimization, and reservoir management for assets at different development stages.
