The Company
VDT is a licensed Private Network service provider specializing in the provision of Enterprise Wide Area Network (WAN) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) link connectivity using Fiber Optic and Wireless Communication infrastructure and access networks.
We are a leading Broadband communication service provider to corporate organizations with leased Fiber Optic trunks to the thirty-six (36) states in Nigeria and the FCT, with 145 Points-Of-Presence (POP) and counting with localized technical support staffers.
These network trunks are interconnected with our IP-MPLS technology core at each city to provide today’s largest IP-MPLS network in Nigeria, with the Enterprise edge metro wireless distribution access network offering to numerous Customers. We have been offering this robust service and the Enterprise MPLS/VPN platform provisioning technology to our customers (including other Communication service providers) since year 2001 across the country.
About the Role
The OSP Engineer will play a key role in designing, installing, and maintaining our fiber network infrastructure. This hands-on role involves conducting site surveys, ensuring technical compliance, and working closely with internal teams and external vendors to optimize and maintain network performance.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site surveys, prepare project documentation, and ensure fiber installations comply with technical standards.
Support configuration of network equipment and oversee fiber installation projects to maintain high-quality network performance.
Ensure timely maintenance and troubleshooting of fiber infrastructure, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders for seamless project execution.
Document project progress, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and provide technical support to internal teams.
Qualifications & Skills
BEng/HND in Computer Engineering, Electrical Electronics, or a related field.
CCNA, CCNP, and industry certifications in design tools (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD) are highly desirable.
3+ years in Fiber to the Home (FTTH) infrastructure, fiber optic cable design, and new OSP/ISP fiber construction. Familiarity with enterprise-grade networking equipment and core network device configurations.
Strong project management, technical presentation, network monitoring, and optimization skills, along with proficiency in network integration (LAN, MAN, WAN).
