Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to take on the role of Head of Stores. This position is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations across all our warehouses and inventory hubs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing inventory management, optimizing stock levels, coordinating cross-functional supply chain efforts, and maintaining up-to-date asset records across multiple operational sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce best-in-class policies and procedures for store operations.
- Manage the end-to-end process of receiving, storing, and issuing materials such as raw inputs, packaging items, spare parts, and finished products.
- Maintain optimal stock levels to support seamless production and operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliation exercises to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Work closely with departments such as procurement, logistics, and production to ensure alignment and efficient supply chain execution.
- Uphold safety, health, and environmental standards in all warehousing activities.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of store personnel to ensure productivity and compliance.
- Generate periodic reports on inventory trends, stock performance, and operational KPIs.
- Introduce continuous improvement initiatives to reduce inventory costs and enhance responsiveness.
- Monitor and control stock losses, expired items, and damaged goods.
- Manage the tagging, coding, and classification of inventory items for traceability.
- Review internal requisitions to align with budgetary limits and operational requirements.
- Ensure accurate valuation and documentation of assets stored across various locations.
- Maintain a comprehensive asset register with proper documentation and tagging.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification or certifications such as CIPS, APICS is a plus.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in warehouse or inventory management, with 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Experience working in a large-scale manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of asset tagging and inventory valuation processes.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle for inventory control.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
