Job Title: Contracts Engineer/Buyer

Responsibilities
- Manage the full pre-award process, including preparation, negotiation, and award of contracts for goods, works, and services, ensuring the company’s commercial interests are protected.
- Work closely with the Global Category Manager to implement Total Global Procurement (TGP) strategies locally and ensure compliance with TGP governance.
- Explore and leverage contracting synergies to support business requirements.
- Support the 3C initiative by delivering cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
- Offer timely and practical advice to stakeholders, operating as a ‘Duet’ with technical counterparts to ensure effective contract planning and execution.
- Use approved contract templates and maintain compliance with standard contractual principles during negotiations.
- Oversee the complete contracting process for offshore services, including strategy development, prequalification, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and documentation.
- Collaborate with métier partners to develop relationships with vendors and track performance through contract management activities.
- Follow all established procurement and supply chain policies and procedures.
- Ensure vendor selection complies with internal guidelines and external compliance programs, including safety and environmental assessments.
- Proactively mitigate project risks and handle contractual disputes effectively.
- Assist with claim settlements in conjunction with legal and senior management by providing strategic input and participating in negotiations.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including Lean practices and adoption of industry best practices.
- Prepare and deliver Contract Committee presentations when required.
- Promote and commit to HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) policies and initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with COMPANY rules, SOX regulations, and applicable local laws.
- Build suitable bidder lists per vendor management standards to achieve cost-effective procurement.
- Ensure contracts comply with the organization’s ethical standards to reduce potential risks.
- Participate in negotiations for claim resolutions and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Provide mentorship to Contracts Engineers, Buyers, and Administrators.
- Maintain awareness of and compliance with all relevant HSEQ and statutory standards.
- Efficiently use procurement tools such as SAP, AGORA, and e-Sourcing to maintain accurate and auditable records.
- Keep procurement schedules current in the Master Procurement Plan and maintain contract portfolio status.
Job Requirements
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, or Social Sciences (preferably Supply Chain).
- 3–5 years of relevant industry experience, including a minimum of 2 years specifically as a Contracts Engineer within the oil and gas sector.
- Professional memberships in Supply Chain or operational fields are advantageous.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational ability.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- General knowledge of commercial, legal, and insurance issues relevant to the energy sector.
