Job Title: Chief Accountant
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Supervise daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statement and report preparation.
- Monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasts to support business planning.
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to generate actionable insights for senior management.
- Collaborate with departments to prepare and oversee budgets and cost-control initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of financial strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
System and Process Optimization:
- Review and enhance accounting systems, processes, and internal controls for greater efficiency.
- Recommend and implement new technologies or tools to streamline financial operations.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure adherence to local tax laws, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, addressing any identified issues promptly.
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and industry best practices.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and guide the accounting team to achieve departmental goals.
- Provide ongoing training and development to build team capabilities and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (CPA, CMA, or ACCA) preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, analytical thinking, and communication skills; highly detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in accounting, with at least five of those years spent in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Salary:
N250,000 monthly
